Moira Whelan (circa 1916)

Mary Xavier “Moira” Whelan was born in Hospital Co. Limerick on Nov. 3rd, 1907.  She was the second child of Jack and Mae Whelan.  She had five sisters – Elsie, Kathleen, Agnes, Alice and Carmel, and two brothers – Jack and Paddy.  Moira emigrated to America in April 1927 with her family where they lived at 32 Albany St. in Albany, NY.

Moira married Bernie Connolly, who lived across Albany St. from the Whelans, on Oct. 29th, 1929 at Sacred Heart Church.  Moira and Bernie had four children – Rosalie, Buddy, Bobby and Gerry.  They eventually relocated to Port Richey, Florida where Bernie died in 1984.  Moira later married Raymond Egan.  She died on Dec. 1st, 1998 and is buried with Bernie in Port Richey.
